The Planning Committee
Planning applications handled by the Development Corporation
will generally be decided by the Planning Committee.
The Committee comprises eight members, (four of whom
are required for the meeting to be legitimate) and considers
planning applications of a certain size or significance.
At the Planning Committee meeting both supporters and objectors
of individual proposals have the opportunity to speak. Members then
vote on whether or not to approve the planning application based on
guidance in relevant planning policies, planning legislation and
the views of the public and other interested parties.

The Planning Committee meetings are open to the public and those
with a specific interest in an application may speak at the
Committee.

Once an application has been scheduled to appear on the agenda
for a particular meeting of the Planning Committee, those who have
made representations on the planning application will be advised in
writing that it is due to be considered and will be invited to
attend. A similar letter will be sent to the agent or applicant. If
more than ten letters of objection are received the
Development Corporation may suggest that one spokesperson be
nominated.
In order to speak at a Planning Committee an individual will
need to inform the Development Corporation by letter or email, at
least one working day before the meeting, and provide the following
information:
- the name and address of the speaker;
- the planning application on which they wish to speak and;
- whether they are speaking for or against the proposal.

viewed below. The agenda for the next meeting will be made
available a week prior to the date of that meeting. The
minutes of each meeting will be made available shortly after each
meeting.
