How to Submit a Planning Application
This page includes information on the various planning
application forms, the planning application
fee for each type of application and the
information that needs to accompany each
application.
Which form should I use?
There are 15 different planning application forms, with
associated guidance notes for each one.
These are broken down into two types; individual forms to be
used where one type of planning permission is required and combined
forms which allow you to apply for several types of permission.
Links to all Development Corporation application forms and
specific guidance notes on the completion of each can be found on
Forms and
Guidance Notes. Each of the forms and guidance notes can be
downloaded and/or printed, however, if you would rather be sent a
paper copy then please contact the Development Corporation.
Please note: These forms are the only acceptable type of form
for all applications submitted.
Please refer to the description on each application form in
order to determine which form you require. If you are still unsure
which form you should use for your application, please contact the
Development Corporation to discuss your proposals.
What fee should accompany the application?
Please note that without payment of the correct fee the
Development Corporation will not process your application. Please
use the
Online Fee Calculator (new window) or Schedule of
Fees (PDF, new window, 526KB) to determine what
amount to pay.
Payment can be made online via WorldPay, in
person at the Development Corporation offices or by cheque.
which should accompany the application (all cheques should be made
payable to Thurrock Development Corporation). Please indicate
clearly on the covering letter accompanying the application which
method you have used to pay the applicable application fee.
Please note: An application will be considered invalid if it is
submitted without a planning application fee. It will not be
processed and we will contact you to inform you of this.
If you have submitted an incorrect amount, we will contact you
and inform you of the error.
What information should accompany the
application?
Each planning application form contains a checklist which
indicates what additional information is required and the number of
copies that should accompany that type of application. In addition,
electronic versions of all accompanying information should also be
submitted either on CD or USB Memory Stick.
Please note – A planning application will be considered invalid
if it is submitted without the relevant information and requisite
number of copies outlined in the application form checklist. It
will not be processed and we will contact you to explain what extra
information is required.
What is the procedure after I submit a planning
application?
After we recieve your a planning application, it is
reviewed by the Planning Department to ensure that everything
required to process it has been completed and included.
Once your application is valid and been assigned to a case
officer, the application will go out for consultation.
Following the consultation period the case officer will assess
the consultation responses and fully evaluate your proposal
against local and national policies. A report will then be written
and a recommendation made.
Dependant on the type of application, and the extent of the
proposal, a decision will be made by the planning department or the
Planning Committee. If your application requires a decision to be
made by the Planning Committee, then you and those who
commented, will be notified by letter prior to the meeting and
invited to attend.
After a decision either to approve, with appropriate conditions
and/or section 106 agreement, or refuse the application has been
has been made, a formal Decision Notice will be issued to you.
Further and more detailed information on the planning
application process is available in Frequently Asked Questions.
