Bata Factory Design Brief Approved

The final version of the Bata Factory Design Brief was approved by the Development Corporation’s Planning Committee on 5 December 2011.

The former Bata Factory (also known as the Thames Industrial Park) is an important heritage asset, however it is at risk as the site is underused and many of the existing buildings are in need of maintenance and restoration.

The Design Brief has been amended following public consultation in May and June 2011 and shows the potential of the site and its buildings; illustrating how the reuse of buildings, with complementary new development, will enhance the site, contribute to the regeneration of the wider area and deliver essential infrastructure.

The Design Brief establishes guidelines to assist the current owners or private developers to produce development proposals in accordance with community aspirations.
