Sign up to Thurrock’s Next Top Boss for your chance to win thousands of pounds worth of prizes!

The first Thurrock’s Next Top Boss challenge starts this month, and excitement is building as hundreds of teenagers team up for the competition.

The Next Top Boss team has been busy visiting youth groups, colleges, schools and shopping centres across Thurrock and beyond to recruit young people for the initiative, which is designed to help 17-19 year olds to develop skills, gain confidence and build the contacts they will need to gain a firm foothold on the career ladder and give them a springboard to success.

Prizes range from thousands of pounds worth of Lakeside and Best Buy vouchers through to work placements and permanent jobs.  In addition all entrants are being invited to take part in experience events with local organisations, which are throwing open their doors to show the vast assortment of careers available.

Among the free experience days, contestants will have the opportunity to shadow the principal of Palmer’s College, see behind the scenes of Lakeside Shopping Centre, take part in team building events with Chelsea Football Club or find out what goes on backstage at the Royal Opera House.

Next Top Boss has been created by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, and is co-funded by Thurrock Council, partnering with major organisations and businesses across the borough.

Celebrities backing the initiative include The Apprentice star Baron Alan Sugar and gold paralympian Danny Crates.

Commenting on Next Top Boss, Danny said; “Hundreds of young people have already signed up for Next Top Boss but it’s not too late to join in!   This is the first time a fantastic opportunity quite like this has ever been available for teenagers and it’s one which could change their lives forever.”

One the of the participants, 17 year old Kimberley Davies from Purfleet, believes Next Top Boss is offering her and her friends something unique.  Kimberley, who is studying at Palmer's College, said; “I don't know a lot about business and Next Top Boss is giving me a great opportunity to learn. It's exciting, interesting and hopefully fun and at the same time we have the opportunity to experience something different and challenging!"
