    Situated within the Thames Gateway in South Essex, just to the East of London, the Borough of Thurrock covers an area of 64 square miles with over 18 miles of riverside stretching along the Thames Estuary.

    Thurrock is strategically positioned on several key transport corridors (the Thames, the M25/A13/A127 roads and the C2c rail link to Fenchurch Street and Canary Wharf interchanges at West Ham). More

  2. How is a Development Corporation (DC) established and what do they do?

    Development Corporations (DCs) are set up under the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 to regenerate an urban development area defined by order of Parliament. DCs are time-limited bodies, with indicative lifespans set out in the Parliamentary order establishing them.

Thurrock Thames Gateway DC is currently working with the Department of Communities & Local Government (DCLG) (formerly ODPM), Thurrock, Council, East of England Development Agency, Local Strategic Partnership and other key partners.
