Key Facts

Grays High Street

Soon after we were set up, we started work on a comprehensive regeneration strategy for Thurrock. This is now complete and provides a clear practical road map to make Thurrock a first choice to live and work.

Our vision is as much about skills as buildings. We work with local colleges so that every major project in our strategy is linked to training and to Thurrock’s future employment needs.

Our vision is also about making Thurrock a place where people want to live long-term. We use a variety of links from cycle paths to innovative transport systems to bring homes, green spaces and work places together.

We work closely with Thurrock Council, local people and organisations to make sure our plans are workable and will deliver the best possible outcome for the Borough.

We make things happen and remove roadblocks to future growth. We are committed to making the case for Thurrock and will continue fighting to keep important hubs like Tilbury Port competitive in the UK and the world.

We are currently focusing on five key hubs:

  • Reshaping Grays into a modern civic centre, with a new Further Education college and community hospital.
  • Driving forward an £85 million public-private partnership to transform Purfleet centre.
  • Helping reshape Tilbury around an expanded, world-class competitive port.
  • Developing Lakeside into a retail and leisure destination.
  • Enabling the new London Gateway deep-sea container port.

We have brought the new Royal Opera House Production Park to Purfleet and will be encouraging other creative businesses to join the Park. We will foster other growth industries (such as environmental), while adding value to traditional sectors like logistics and retail.
