Corporation Milestones

2003

  • Set up of Corporation (October).

2005

  • Corporation opens its doors for business and becomes the planning authority for major applications.
  • Long-term plan for development in Thurrock (Regeneration Framework) published.

2008

  • Publication of  our Corporate Plan. This sets out our targets and the way we plan to work.
  • Publication of  Lakeside and West Thurrock Master Plan - and acquisition of key sites in the area.
  • Acquisition of the key Cory’s Wharf riverside site in Purfleet.
  • Publication of a more detailed plan for the development of South Stifford near Lakeside.
  • Approval granted for the National Skills Academy to be based at the Royal Opera House Production Park in Purfleet.

2009

  • Publication of East Thurrock and Grays Town Centre Master Plans.
  • Development of detailed plans for Tilbury Town Centre and Arisdale Avenue.
  • Start of work on the Royal Opera House Production Park.
  • Opening of the temporary Learning Campus in Grays.

2010

  • Royal Opera House Production Park due to open.

2012

  • The National Skills Academy, the permanent Learning Campus and Grays Community Hospital due to open.

2011 - 2013

  • Independent creative business due to move on site at Royal Opera House Production Park.

2023 -

  • London Gateway deep sea container port due to start operation.
