New Developments
With the Development Corporation and Thurrock Council
dedicated to revitalising Thurrock and a multi-million pound
investment programme, the economic landscape is set to change with
the arrival of 26,000 jobs and 18,500 new homes by
2021.
Thurrock is fast becoming a location of choice for
business.
Internationally renowned DP World owns the London
Gateway deep-sea container port, and the world-class Royal Opera
House is relocating its production facilities to
Purfleet. These are just two of the major investments in
Thurrock and there are plenty more to come:

Five major developments in the Borough are driving growth and
change in Thurrock. These economic 'hubs' will not only bring new
jobs and homes, but transform the local landscape. Work, amenities
and leisure will be concentrated around refreshed town centres, or
new landscaped industrial and business park areas. This will give
Thurrock well-defined communities with plenty going on and
re-establish meaningful links to London and the rest of the UK.
They are:
- a new centre for Purfleet;
- a new town centre in Grays;
- transformation of Lakeside for the 21st century;
- the development of Tilbury port and area and;
- London Gateway deep-sea container port.
