Main Towns and Communities
Thurrock’s main communities are Purfleet, Aveley, South
Ockendon, Grays, Tilbury, Chadwell St Mary, Stanford-le-Hope and
Corringham. There are also established rural communities in Orsett
and East Tilbury.
Each centre has its own distinct character, history and
opportunities for the future. Thurrock’s towns are good places to
grow small and medium-sized businesses.
The area also hosts the major Lakeside regional shopping and
retail centre, one of Europe's largest retailers.
