The Thurrock Business
Association is a business-led partnership of local firms and
key decision-makers dedicated to 'working together for a better
Thurrock'. The Association offers not only networking opportunities
but practical support for local companies.
Membership is open to any firm based in, or operating from
Thurrock, current members include prominent multinationals as
well as local small and medium sized enterprises.
The core action groups of the Thurrock Business Association
are:
- Environmental & Health Development Group;
- Logistics Action Group;
- Members, Charity & Social Development Group;
- Public Sector Development Group and;
- Workforce Development Group.
Thurrock Council also runs a regular breakfast meeting for
Thurrock companies. These meetings encourage local businesses to
shape the local government agenda and share views on current issues
affecting housing, such as local transport. The group has lent its
support to Council initiatives such as a careers fair aimed at
encouraging local students to look at a range of local
opportunities.
BusinessNet
(new window) is a web-based portal that provides support and
advice to Thurrock’s businesses. Thurrock Council, Business Link
and the Development Corporation have formed a partnership and
devised a series of initiatives to support Thurrock’s
businesses.
Services include:
- regular Friday morning business surgeries
- a Business Link Mobile Unit that visits key industrial
sites in Thurrock, bringing free professional business advice to
local business and;
- the Business Support Vouchers Scheme which entitles businesses
to specialist advice and support, including marketing consultancy,
legal and financial services.
