Living and working in Thurrock

Dovecoat Barns 2006

Thurrock lies on the river Thames, just east of London at the heart of the fast-developing Thames Gateway area and about 30 minutes train journey from central London.

Connected by train to London and Europe, Thurrock covers an area of about 64 square miles with over 18 miles of riverside stretching along the Thames Estuary.

Thurrock is a busy, hardworking place that has always served London, transporting goods and people down the River Thames to the sea. Its heritage has given it a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Thurrock people welcome growth and enterprise making it a great place to grow a business. Close to London, Thurrock offers ideal riverside and other sites for business and industry with plenty of room to grow.

Thurrock is an area of contrasts. Thriving industry jostle ancient historical monuments and almost untouched open spaces are within a stone’s throw of busy commercial sites. At the heart of the Borough, the distinctive meander of the river Thames makes Thurrock very different from the residential suburbs of the South East.
