Turning our vision for Thurrock into reality
is a step by step process. We started by developing the strategic
goals and measures of success in the Regeneration Framework
and then created a Spatial Plan setting out our policies and
proposals for Thurrock. This was followed by Master Plans for key
hubs such as Grays Town Centre. The Master Plans outlined issues
and options for how the area might develop and involved two rounds
of consultation. This allowed us to produce more detailed plans for
particular projects.
Once our Master Plans are approved we have to
bring individual projects to life. We produce a Development Brief,
Design Brief or Development Framework, as appropriate that provide
detailed proposals and guidance for planning
applications.
The Development Corporation can acquire land
and have already done this for a number of projects. We market to
developers and encourage them to put forward plans that will
deliver our vision. We also attract private sector investors and
prepare sites so that they are ready for development.
The Development Corporation are moving plans
from the drawing board to reality, others are well on course for
delivery.
